River Studio is an advertising and commercial photography studio, established in 1990 by photographer Richard Battye (B.A. Hons) based in Birmingham UK. Shooting for a diverse range of clients in the studio or on location nationwide and sometimes abroad (France, Spain, Italy, Quatar, USA to date). Studio hire and tuition is also available .A wide variety of work is covered but it can be broken down as follows;
Advertising & Commercial
Automotive, education, healthcare, company brochures, interiors, fashion shoots, products and people. Shooting for a very diverse client base either via advertising agencies or direct clients.
Creative & Performing Arts
Bands, actors, musicians, dancers, theatre companies, record labels and a wide variety of performers. Shooting the work of artists ; textiles, ceramics and sculpture for local and international clients. Fashion portfolios for designers / models. From an actor’s headshot, a model’s portfolio to a big campaign for an orchestra or a ballet / theatre company. Working closely with Birmingham Royal Ballet on marketing shots and dancer profiles.

There really is no job too big or small ; from a simple headshot / product shot to a 300 page 30 day catalogue shoot. The studio works with agencies and designers on fully art directed shoots yet is equally happy working B2B with the marketing department of a direct client or with an individual. Also if your project is not listed here..just ask..the answer is usually ; YES.
Richard Battye also lectures at Universities and Colleges, acts as a mentor, runs lighting workshops (see Studio Hire page for details), occasionally appears on television, offers 1 – 1 training, gives talks in schools, universities and to clubs / societies. Works in partnerships with other creative industries and sponsors Aspire4U. Acts on judging panels and is available for presentations, comment, professional advice and more.
